Discover the Gold

   Discover the Gold

“The instruction of the LORD is perfect, renewing one’s life; the testimony of the LORD is trustworthy, making the inexperienced wise.” Psalm 19:7

What are you taking in? I have been thinking lately how no matter what we will consume something. Everywhere we turn will be a message about what to take in.  We can’t escape it! We were having a treasure hunt today in class. It was an actual little treasure chest with fake jewels and they were hiding it in the classroom. Watching those preschoolers race to be the first to find it became chaotic so I came up with another way to play. Instead of hiding the whole thing I suggested we hide each jewel and come back together to the chest when we find all of them. We work together to find it. Team work is always best and when you have others come along it is that much greater. That is one of my favorite things about reading the Word together daily with other people. The ability to gather, read the same Scripture and interact with the Living Word to then go out and be that reflection is this world.

They are more desirable than gold than abundance of pure gold; and sweeter than honey dripping from a honeycomb.” Psalm 19:10

They got really excited about a fake treasure chest and some fake jewels. When they raced all around to find them they had to search underneath blocks, in the writing supplies, and they wouldn’t give up. How much more does God desire us to treasure His Word?  He doesn’t even say I have to find it. He tells me all I have to do is open my mouth and receive it. He doesn’t hide His instructions from me He tells me it is all for the taking when I ask Him. Taking in His Word is allowing Him to feed me all I need each day. Life becomes that much sweeter when I am doing this with other people. Like watching those kids travel around the classroom to find that treasure. His treasure travels along with me when I allow that Living Word to go out and be the heart of God.

When we discover the goodness of God and the treasures of His heart others can come along.

Picture that. We can BE that discovery to this world.
