Praise Him
“I will bless the LORD at all times; his praise will always be on my lips. I will boast in the LORD; the humble will hear and be glad. Proclaim the LORD’s greatness with me; let us exalt his name together.” Psalm 34: 1-3
What does the enemy think when we start our day with praise?
I love the book of Psalms for so many reasons. Some of my reasons are the following. How it has spoken into so many things throughout my life. How God encourages us to be honest and raw with Him. How it constantly reminds my heart of who is in charge. Because we will forget. In fact that is what the enemy is banking on. I read recently that the enemy studies me. He knows what I fear. His full time job is to get me to forget my purpose. He wants my gaze fixed on what I see.
It is so much harder to praise even with what we see around us. God doesn’t expect us to put on fake smiles and pretend everything is ok. He wants us to come to Him and share what is on our hearts so He can come in and give us comfort. He already knows what is occurring within my heart and when I surrender that to Him He can meet me in agreement to work within it. It won’t always move the problem but it will move my heart to a greater place of resting while I wait on the answer to prayer. My circumstances will always change but His character never will. Praise reminds my heart that He is in charge and I can surrender it all to Him.
It is in that place I can look back and remember His mercy and grace and thank Jesus for the freedom of living for him. “Thank you Jesus you are Sovereign and Unchanging and worthy of all my praise.” The enemy is hoping I forget and get sidetracked and Jesus is inviting me to sit in His Presence and remember and praise Him.
So what would happen if when your feet hit the floor you started thanking God? Try it. See what happens within your heart when the first thing you do is praise the Lord.
Father,
We praise you because you are Holy and Righteous. We don’t have to understand why things are the way they are, only that you control it all. It is daily choosing to keep believing and keep praising. Praise makes the enemy flee. Praise gives our hearts an outward focus. Praise reminds us we were made to worship you alone. So let us enter your presence with thanksgiving; let us shout triumphantly to you in song. Every single day. Let your name be the first name on our lips when we rise every morning..
Praise Him.
