Fullness of Grace
“The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. We observed his glory, the glory as the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14
John was the first book of the Bible I read when I began a relationship with Jesus. The Bible is very confusing when you start reading it and John was the book that started something I couldn’t have ever imagined. This thirst to know more and connect all the pieces to still sit with the Lord this morning and see once again how His Living Word works in ways to reveal more and more about His heart. John was writing from an evangelistic purpose unlike the other gospels. John doesn’t contain some of the key things in the other gospels but it contains things that the other gospels don’t. Set apart from the other gospels it starts off ,”In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.” John 1:1 Some of the greatest truth that shows us from beginning to end Jesus Christ was always God’s plan for humanity.
The book of John shows us the Deity and Humanity of Christ. The Great I Am coming down to earth to live in flesh.
Why would God choose that? Why would a Holy Righteous God choose to live in us?
“For God so loved the world in this way. He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
This verse is probably one of the most known verses out there. Even if you don’t believe in God you have seen and heard this verse at some point in your life. But do you really hear the love behind this verse? Because for many years I didn’t. I just wanted to check that box and not perish even that word is a foreign word in this world. It isn’t just not joining Him forever it is not living here on this earth with Him. Knowing that Jesus is with you. He gave us his life so we could die to ours. God loved this world so much He gave His Son His spotless and sinless Son for us. To right our wrongs. To break chains. To give me a life that no longer feels empty and shameful. Not just that but that Grace that is ready to meet me every single day. Mercy new every morning.
Grace met me at my worst. Grace can only come through Jesus. There is fullness in grace.
“Indeed, we have all received grace upon grace from his fullness.” John 1:16
The fullness of God that stepped down into man to live among us and then die a brutal death on a cross so I could recieve the fullness of God in me? What other god would do that? Not one.
Father,
You always moved towards us and you still do today. Your love is nothing like ours. You love extended out in a way that can only be explained by the Grace you have given us. Always loving us. We didn’t deserve any of it. We still don’t deserve the endless grace and mercy you give us each day. But Jesus was always your plan. It still is. Help each day to be that extension of your grace Jesus. It is all for your glory.
Amen
