Savior of the World

  Savior of the World

“His mercy is from generation to generation on those who fear him. He has done a mighty deed with his arm; he has scattered the proud because of their thoughts of their hearts; he has toppled the mighty from their thrones and exalted the lowly.” Luke 1:50-52

Have you ever thought about the way God chose to do things and display His mercy?

Mary wasn’t  chosen not because of her status but because of her humility and willingness. She carried the Christ Child in her womb and she was chosen to hold the Savior of the world. Sometimes I will read the Bible and I will just fly through these common verses but sometimes God highlights something I have read many times to cause my heart and mind to sit and ponder the majesty of how He did things.

We don’t sit still much these days. We can let this month go by as fast as the business all around us we can blink and Christmas Day will be here. Even the thought of that day can bring a hurriness within us of thinking of what to buy, the places we are to go, and the pressure of keeping it all straight on the calendar. I am convinced the enemy just waits for us to lose focus and this is the one time of the year we won’t realize it until it has completely passed us by. All of the buying of gifts and preparing for the Christmas season can leave us feeling overwhelmed. I am guilty of this. We don’t sit and ponder the wonder and majesty of the birth of our Savior..

Admiring Jesus without an agenda. Taking my agenda and making it obedient to Christ.  We are blessed because of the Mighty One and our soul rejoices because of the great things he has done for us. Oh that I would just sit and praise Jesus because of this one truth alone..

“And you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah are by no means least among the rulers of Judah: Because out of you will come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel.” Matthew 2:6

Deliverance and redemption was God’s plan all along. Salvation for the whole world. All generations would receive His Mercy and so we could be called blessed. So we could not just know about God but Know Him as our guiding Shepherd that leads us and guides our feet into the way of peace.

The people who live in darkness have seen a great light, and those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.” Matthew 4:16

I am dispatched by the Holy Spirit to a kingdom assigned to be Light in a dark world so others can see Jesus.” Louie Giglio

The words dispatched and assigned were jumping out in this quote. Sent out and on assignment because of Jesus. A reason my flesh will fight against this understanding in a world that chooses the opposite. But Jesus chose us. So my assignment still stands to be His Light in this world.

Father,

You gave your one and only Son for us. So we could receive new mercy every single day we wake up. So we call to mind and therefore we have hope. It is because of your faithful love our mercies are new every morning; great is your faithfulness! Jesus, we put our hope in you. You are the Light in this world and you are the Savior of the world. So our kingdom's purpose is to glorify you King Jesus.

Amen
