Whole Healing

           Whole Healing

“Go proclaim these words to the north, and say, ‘Return, unfaithful Israel, this is the LORD’s declaration. I will not look on you with anger, for I am unfailing in my love. This is the LORD’s declaration. I will not be angry forever.” Jeremiah 3:12

The words were once again placed on Jeremiah’s heart to proclaim to people that had turned their back on God. This chapter is told in a way that of a covenant marriage. As I have seen throughout God’s word what a marriage is supposed to be, this was a reminder of broken vows. The faithful became unfaithful because of broken vows. It has always been about the relationship. God desires a unbroken relationship with us. The words return to me continued to jump out today. To return to the Lord.

It is one thing to turn and not turn towards God. For years I spent time telling the Lord, “This time I will do better.” only to go back to what was familiar. Trying to fix myself instead of allowing the Lord all of it. Allowing Him to be the Healer.

“Healing requires humility and a change of your normal operating procedures. But it’s worth it.” Caleb Mathis

As this was shared as a scripture reflection today the words humility AND change once again leaped off the page. In order for true healing to occur it is that exchange that must be made. I could continue to muster up all my strength and try harder to live for the Lord OR I could allow Him to meet me in my mess. I could continue my old ways OR I could begin to surrender it all to Him. I eventually allowed Him to meet me in all  it and God wasn’t surprised. I believed the lie for many years that I had to have it cleaned up before I came to Him but the truth is that complete healing occurs when I meet Him in my mess. That is when He showed me grace and mercy.

This saying is trustworthy: For if we died with him, we will also live with him; if we endure, we will also reign with him; if we deny him, he will also deny us; if we are faithless, he remains faithful, for he cannot deny himself.” 2 Timothy 2:13

God is not surprised by our lack of faithfulness, He wasn’t back in the Old Testament and He isn’t surprised by anything He sees today. But God will always remain faithful! We can deny His faithfulness but that isn’t a possibility for God He is faithful until the end. He is faithful despite our unfaithfulness. But just as Caleb said this morning, It is so much better living for Jesus who completes us. The whole healing is because of the life Jesus gave for us. Every. Single. Day.

Father,

You are faithful. You are trustworthy. Remind us when we start putting things before you that don’t give you that full reign in our hearts and minds. Thank you that we get to SEE when you take unfaithful and make it faithful around us! Humble our hearts and minds daily. We return and acknowledge we are nothing without you Jesus. Thank you for the reminder as we live in this world that you still reign. Thank you for living among us so that we can experience joy and live for you only. Thank you Jesus.

Amen
